Turn 10 is a games developer.
A Game Developer is a company that makes a game and puts everything into the game like the models, levels and 2d sprites/images. Turn 10 is owned by the publisher Microsoft Studios they are used to develop their Forza series.
A first party developer is a company who makes a video game console and develops for it like Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony.
A second party developer is a company that basically develops games for the first party developers, they are higher up than third party developers. They may have some publishing agreements, but maintain independence. Some examples of second party developers Insomniac Games for Sony, Bungie for Microsoft and Rareware for Nintendo.
A third party developer is a company that can still publish games but very rarely, also most third party companies will have less say on the final development and the first and second party developers will get more say.
Turn 10 is more of a second party developer as they are working with Microsoft on the Forza franchise.

A game publisher is a company that finances a video game and gets the info on it's sales, so they basically publish the game/get it out there to get sales for it. The difference between game publishers and developers are publishers get the sales on the game and finances in it and developers actually make the game like the models etc. The game publishers are more powerful than the developers because they actually get the game out and get the finances and sales from it.Some examples of Major video game publishers are Sega, Ubisoft and Capcom some examples of smaller publishers are MumboJumbo, Superior Software and System 3.
Firefly Studios
Firefly Studios is an independent studio.
An independent studio is a company that produces games all by themselves without a developer and all the profits go to them whereas developers and publishers work together.They will have a smaller audience because more people are into more popular games which are made by developers/publishers so they probably won't make as much as them but some indie games have become very popular.
